The Boy Scouts are just about to get a Catholic church sized scandal, because a federal judge has ordered them to release some 1,200 files they have of sexual impropriety from the mid 1960s to today.
This means that they are going to be hit with hundreds of lawsuits, likely coalescing into a class action suit for hundreds of millions of dollars they don’t have.
The left is passionate about destroying them. They represent everything the left bitterly hates. Their very existence makes the left choke on its own bile.
We may be seeing the last Eagle Scout in American history to be named in the next year.
Wasn't a federal judge; it was the Oregon Supreme Court.
This is still part of the aftershocks of the Oregon state lawsuit in the Cascade Pacific Council regarding the Scoutmaster, Timur Dykes.
Some of these are just lists of ineligible volunteers who were caught before they could serve; some are ineligible volunteers because of sexual impropriety.
The Associated Press, The Oregonian, Oregon Public Broadcasting, KGW (a CNN affiliate), The New York Times and Courthouse News Service had intervened in that lawsuit and the BSA was ordered to make the records (with certain details, such as the victims' names, redacted) available to the news agencies. The BSA appealed back at the time of the original order to turn these records over to the media and this latest order is the BSA losing in the Oregon Supreme Court.
Good clarity, thanks. However, unless the BSA can fight this and win in federal court, I fear it will open the floodgates for similar litigation with every council in the country.
