Kudos to you for expressing

I am social media illiterate as they come. I too did not "get" twitter. However, one day my natural curiosity kicked in and I did my research and study of the subject. Wow, arguably and arguably only, twitter may have a bigger impact than all other medias.

It allows a message (on a national level) from spinning out of control or controlling a message. It has blocked or influenced the media on some key stories.

Reading the history of tweet, you will then understand why it is called tweet. Turns out the name is an exact and appropriate description

I am fairly " low tech", and thought there could not possibly be a useful purpose for a medium like twitter.

I must admit, though, that during the Walker recall (and especially on electon day) I found Twitter to be extremely helpful. By following just a few people's tweets and re-tweets I received an enormous amount of useful information as it was happening.

There was absolutely no need to turn to the spinmeisters on the newscasts for their twisted garbage. I did this all online - I have no account myself, so I guess that makes me a Twitter lurker.
