Some really good points in this piece. I hadn’t considered the angle that under the current system it’s the networks and the hardware companies and the advertisers who make the big bucks while the artists get ripped off.
The irony is that many artists probably agree with the “free stuff!” mentality. Which might explain why they haven’t been able to muster much of a response to it. If they did, they would be hypocrites.
This is the economic endgame of leftist moral transgression in an area where it hurts the leftists themselves. In way, there is a certain shadenfreude in play here. The problem is that this industry that the left has carelessly burned down is one that a lot of us got a lot of enjoyment from, so we all suffer.
The bottom line is that there is always a consequence to crossing legitimate moral lines. When character rots there is a price to be paid.
