as a New Yorker( who has spent time a little time in Texas)....I tell my Northeast-centric wife(who is xenophobic of all things south of the mason-dixon) that if and when the feces hits the fan, I will run down to Texas and help them man the barricades on the borders both north and south.

Yes it is. California is a very productive state in terms of agriculture and intellectual property; we make some of the best stuff in the world.

The best American President in living memory was Governor of what State?

But like many places where living is easy - political and cultural decadence can set in.

But there is a lot more to California than Governor Moonbeam and the fast train to economic ruin.

And it was a joke Francis. ;)

William T. Sherman is the source of the quote. He knew Texas before air conditioning was common. I don’t know if he was ever stationed in California.
