Your first 2 choices have no executive experience and would be in way over their heads if Romney were to drop dead (particularly Rubio).

Not that it matters, but Obama had no executive experience but nobody held that against him. I guess if you are a Republican, you need to be qualified for the job if you are running for it. Democrats, not so much. Obama has been president for four years, and now has four years of executive experience under his belt. Does this mean he is more qualified than Alan West or Marco Rubio?

And how did that work out?

If you are talking purely political strategy, no, s/he probably needs not have experience. In fact, from a purely political standpoint, Rubio has the looks, speech, rock star personality to be an asset; however, in reality and America’s best interest, he frankly isn’t ready. I am speaking on the standpoint of what is best for the country. Rubio would make a good press secretary.
