Finally, a voice of reason.
I am so disgusted with my former heroines (Malkin, Coulter, Palin) for jumping on the "Akin is an idiot and must go" bandwagon.
I am disgusted with Mitt Romney and Scott Brown too, although I must say neither of those guys was a hero to me.
Otoh I am heartened by Rush Limbaugh today. He is still equivocating, but at least he never jumped on the bandwagon.
Look folks, it is NOT "idiocy," what Akin said. What he said was not scientifically implausible. There are respected doctors who agree with him (e.g. Dr. John C. Wilkie, MD, OB/GYN).
Akin was, at most, guilty of clumsy phrasing. THAT'S ALL. Clumsy phrasing, after an apology, should not be a FATAL ERROR.
So those of you out there parroting the Left and spreading irresponsible memes like "Magic Uterus" -- stop it!
And Sarah Palin, for God's sake, stop promoting the idea of an independent candidacy. That is a sure-fire loser. McCaskill will take the state if voters split the vote.
Like Rush, I still say there is a good chance Akin can win. People who don't know Missouri should NOT pontificate about what the voters should do -- or will do.
And oh btw, I'm a woman. I've had five pregnancies. Therefore my comments, and beliefs, about female physiology and abortion politics cannot be dismissed, like they are for men. /s
He has handed the Dims a sword. I know what he meant to say, and he was wrong to say THAT. What is the case is that women DO have a degree of control over getting pregnant. Some woman do not get pregnant because they fear pregnancy, even though they want to have children. Women generally tend to reduced their pregnancies where the culture oppose large families, or if they==women-—come to realize the advantages of smaller families, EVEN if artificial birth control devises are rare.
Amen to your post!
Maybe better understood if people stopped and considered that, whether scientifically true or just anecdotal, people sometimes all stressed up about trying to have kids seem to end up pregnant right away when they give up and adopt, or are given advice to relax, take a cruise, etc. Sometimes these types of arguments are more readily undestood by lay people than actual scientific studies are.
