I didn’t watch the convention, but hearing about the Eastwood bit, I did watch the replay of it. I thought it quirky, a little awkward, but also pretty funny. Probably added a bit of zesty unpredictability to the proceedings, which I bet was needed. Being political junkies here, I sometimes think we underestimate how innately tiresome 95% of political speeches are to most viewers.
I think if the people watching knew he was using the Jimmy Stewart character in Harvey they’d enjoy it. The more I’ve watch it the better.
I’m a political junkie, but I find most politicians’ speeches annoying and condescending. The art of giving an engaging speech is lost, in my humble opinion.
