MISTAKE NUMBER ONE. They are NOT dumb. They are geniuses and constant exploit our weaknesses. There are so many example that I could write for days on it.
(1) We want clean water and clean air - perfect - we’ll shut down our industry and move it to China. Kills two birds with one stone - we get our clean air/water, and China gets to modernize and will shortly be able to kick our ass on the high seas. No more US Imperialism with China able to check us.
(2) Look at the 1950s, when the Dems (or at least liberals that voted Dem) were actively spying on this country and building up the Soviet Union, and then actively plotting to overthrow the our government. Who gets blamed for all of it? Why who else, a Republican Senator from Wisconsin why tried to hold people accountable...by the time it was over, he was derided as a sick man with a wild imagination, on a witch hunt, and the rank and file Republican base bought that also - since they feared the government arbitrarily coming after them. The files from the Soviet Union 40 years later proved it all true, of course.
As to your point about not being able to be reasoned with. That is true. Jews were going to get gassed, whether or not they tried to reason with the Nazis. Israelis have the same fate, unless they manage to fight back, regardless of how much they try to reason with their local enemies. In the case of today’s Democrats, given that they get the Republicans to back down every time there’s a standoff now, it’s perfectly understandable that there’s no point in reasoning with Republicans - they just have to wait us out while the media gets public opinion in line. It’s not that the Dems can’t be forced to compromise, it’s that the Republicans have never tried to force them to do so.
