Now if you had just seen her on that show back then and I asked you what the chances were that she would be the governor of a fairly large state like Michigan in the future, what odds would you have given me on that? I would have said that her chances were better as a movie actress than as a major political figure.

She married Dan Mulhern and clerked for Damon Keith. There was her Wayne County connections that got her an in with Boss Ed McNamara. The rest was bad history.
