This author doesn’t understand how wealth is created.
My experiences with Greece (and Italians). The smart, or at least aware ones, (25% of population??) have never trusted their Government, and have plenty of money and/or productive assets hidden and untaxed.
Their rapacious, collectivist Gov’t is the reason why the Italian economy is dominated by small, family-owned companies. They don’t grow too big for a reason.

Actually, this article sums up Greece almost perfectly — all the riches in the world under their feet and they are still broke.
Every morning I say a little prayer in memory of my grandparents for their wisdom is leaving Greece for the United States when they were in their twenties.
