“Because if Mitt Romney win, we’ll be going back to the crop fields,” Brandon said, referring to the days of slavery. “We’ll be picking crops.”

Even if I wanted a slave, it wouldn’t be someone with 50 years of welfare/entitlement culture burned into his DNA.

On election night 1980 I attended a party in Baton Rouge where one of the guests was a social worker. He told us of many black folks who came to him terrified because they were being told that Reagan victory meant the return of slavery.

Brandon, it is called opportunity. It is what normal people who are good Americans do- they work for the things they have. Of course, he’s probably never had anyone around who would tell him that, and probably never will.
