Prayer Request for Keegan James Dondlinger, born yesterday, due 4 March
Private Communication | 24 November 2012 | El Gato

Posted on 11/24/2012 2:11:23 PM PST by El Gato

I would like to enlist the services of the Prayer Warriors for the grandson of a little girl who lived in my neighborhood when I was growing up. She's obviously not so little now, but is in need of your prayers.

Keegan James Dondlinger was born yesterday, November 23, 2012, but was due March 4, 2013, three days after my own grandson is due. He weighed 1.85 lbs, but he looks very well developed for being so young and so little.

He's been able to open his eyes, and to grasp his mother's finger.

Thanks Iris, as you know I was sort of internet incommunicado much of last week. Nice to have seen your father, even though the circumstances were not what one might wish for. (for the rest of the Prayer Warriors, I first visiting my Mom, which turned into laying her to rest. Keegan's great grandma rests in the same cemetery as my Mom. Mom got to meet her newest great grandchild, and only great grandson so far. He brightened her spirits on her last day down here with us. She lit up when he was brought into her room. (That was Saturday, before she passed early Tuesday morning, but he saw her again on Monday, less than 12 hours from her passing. The last picture I took of her, she was touching his face.) Heres the lastest Keegan Update, which says pretty the same as Lady Iris' post.

Well after seeing doctor after doctor telling us he is a perfectly healthy 11lb 4oz boy, the genetics doctor was the last to see us at the clinic. She said after looking at the MRI they did shortly before he left the hospital that he doesn't have lymphoma and she believes his hydrocephalus was caused by being premature not some genetic disease. And the best news? It was all done by noon not 4pm like they were telling us to expect.

here's his buddy", Oscar, who is my grandson. :)

BTW, there was a correction, she didn’t mean “lymphoma”, she meant “smooth brain” the word for which is similar. :)

It was so great to talk with Keegan’s great grandpa about what a miracle he is.

A couple of Keegan pictures for all who prayed so hard for him.

Plus, for good measure, an Oscar picture too, taken yesterday, June 2nd. Not long after I left his city, Austin, for Dallas.

But grandpa didn't get to hold him this trip. His time was monopolized by his girl 3rd cousins, 13 and 14. Almost couldn't get him to let go of the 14 y/old's hair.

He’s a right handsome young man, isn’t he!? (I guess at that age, it’s okay to call a guy a “cutie.”) ;)

Thank you for the sharing the pictures and news.

Keegan, while doing very well, isn't completely out of the woods yet. The follosing is a couple of weeks old, I've been slacking.

"Soooo frustrating. Seems every time we start to think Keegan is fairly normal, we get a friendly reminder from his monitor alarm that he isn't quite there yet. Had 3-4 so far tonight but, thankfully, he kept pulling his heart rate back up without Liz having to do anything more than shake him a little. I see a return of his caffeine in our future."

The watch continues. Keep up the Good Work.

Latest Keegan Picture.

Apparently he is doing OT (therapy) in the pool. He was due for a download of his heart/breathing monitor last week. No information on that yet.

Oscar does OT as well, for a little problem with an asymmetric muscle development. He's doing well. He enjoyed his more than a week of camping up in Montana with his parents. Yep, he slept in a tent. Here he is in the tent.

He gets his pool time now and again too.
