Right, which is what got us to this point of the crazies being out to kill people all over the place.

So our choice was to let the innocent die so we don't lock up the potential problems as we used to.

It is what we choose to do as a society and we need to stop complaining about what to do about these killings unless we want to go back to locking all the misfits up.
I don't think we want to lock the mental up yet again IMO.

Indeed it is dangerous. Years ago, a husband would have his wife committed because she may be disagreeable, and he wanted to be free of her. He could have her committed.

Maybe the movie "The Snake Pit" sould be viewed once more.

In those days, the CRAZIES were having the SANE locked up. Substitute CRAZIES as LIBERALS, and SANE for CONSERVATIVES. Now you can see the danger.
