Why does anyone need an "Assault Rifle"?

Bob Beckel on Fox news asked yesterday, "Why does anyone need an "assault rifle"?

I thought...Why does anyone need a 900 HP muscle car?...they could drive an East German wondercar like the Trabant or a Yaris or some other meager means of transport which aren't so "wasteful and dangerous". Why is there 1st class seating on airliners? Why are there multi CPU, overclocked computers when a plain vanilla Dell would be adequate?

I know you could come up with many more examples like this.

There are many choices we have the privledge to make because we live in this wonderful country. Some of the choices are wasteful, frivolous or dangerous to some. One of the choices we have is the weapon we choose. Whether it's for sport or protection...it's our choice...like many things in our life. You know...."assault weapons" are not Automatic weapons...they are the same mechanically as some hunting rifles with just a change in the stock design...with maybe a pistol grip added. They look more dangerous to these communists in the house and senate so they want to get rid of them. Most don't know a thing about firearms.

We have, and enjoy owning all types of guns because we are Americans and have freedom of choice. It would be wrong to take guns away from good and lawful people. You know the criminals won't give up there's. This is just another lie from the left.

Because they are cool and fun to shoot. Plus the bad guys have 'em.

But gunner, don't you see -- that makes too much sense. We must all emote. It's the only way to whirled peas.

imagine how her son will turn out, another mamby pamby sissy.

Yea I;ve noticed how these fools do not have guns and think they know about guns.

My wife was brought up in the north east, she hated guns but me being me kept on her.
Finally she got to the range and I showed her how a gun works and the advantages it has and how it;s always there just in case.

She now lives guns and believes in them.

Still maybe old has been Gretchen can play with the easy bake for her son, go out to eat, go to a movie and ship the boy off to bed early so she can attend her snotty party and have the baby sitter look after the kids and all on Christmas day ARF.

well, Bob ‘The Hut’ Beckel, because a .22lr won’t penetrate the layers of blubber you carry, to reach vital organs.

The 2nd Ammendment did not define the firearm, it protected it as a Constitutional Right, and the Supreme Court has upheld that right by saying the Framers had it right. The Right is there to keep the Government from taking our firearms, placing us on a train boxcar and sending us to a gas-chamber.

very true that.

All these outlets keep telling us about a NY, NJ, CT local story, well maybe they need to get out of there and see how America lives.

They think it;s all about where they live.
Like you said Sandy, but hardly anything about certain tornado’s, flooding in Tn etc

Ignorance and stupidity runs deep in liberal America. Bob, why do you need to eat for four people?

Because when defending your life, liberty, or property, you don’t have the luxury to ask the criminal coming at you to stop, and settle the issue over a game of checkers.

I love that dang thing, best 75 bucks I ever spent I’ll tell you what.

Fun to shoot, accurate as hell, and an historical piece as well.

Well Bob what is an assault rifle?
Do you have a clue?
I sincerely doubt it.
ANY weapon is an assault weapon if someone shoots you with it..
I mean after all the Police will charge the person with ASSAULT!

That idiot Ed Schultz said this...

"Why should anyone own an assault rifle ?” ... “it's the confiscation of these types of weapons that counts and will have an impact.” - Speshul Ed Schultz

My response on the thread about that was "I own an 'assault rifle' to keep anyone from confiscating my other guns." Facetious but essentially true. More basically the reason to own one is to defend against multiple assailants. And then there is the fun of shooting one.

When we were kids, do you ever remember a boy playing with an Easy Bake oven? I don’t. Nor a mother who would have humored it.

My mother-in-law sleeps with her gun next to her bed whenever her husband goes out of town. She told us, “Anybody who opens that door during the night better make sure to yell “Mom” if they want to live”, LOL.

It was also a lot of fun listening to the guys around me laughing as I bent like a willow each time I fired it.

And my shoulder wasn't even sore afterward. I loved it!

The 2nd Ammendment did not define the firearm

In Federalist 46, Madison says that the citizens should have the right to own anything as that of a standing army of the 'kingdoms of Europe'. In other words, the citizens should be able to defend themselves from any entity which threatens their life, liberty, or property, even against the most powerful aggressor.

Hamilton reiterated this in Federalist 29 regarding the citizens being equipped as the army so 'that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people'.

So while the Constitution doesn't define what arms we can hold, the writers made it clear, the citizens should be free to arm themselves as any standing army so as to always be able to defend themselves from any army.

Nice. I find the 44 to balance better and the recoil ain't bad.

Just a couple of months ago, you could walk out of a gun show with a MossyNugget (either type) and 1000rds for less than 300 bucks. Heck of a deal ...

Just the thought of it would make DiFi or Sarah Brady soil themselves.
