This came about after the 2010 elections, when the GOP took control of the House. In the previous House, the Democrats had passed Obamacare with virtually nobody having time to read the bill, let alone understand what was in it.
Remember the travesty of then Speaker Pelosi deigning to tell we, the people, that "we have to pass the bill before we can know what's in it."
I would remind Boehner and the rest of the GOP leadership that is the main reason why she is now FORMER Speaker Pelosi.
If you want to follow her out the door, just go ahead and cram this through on Sunday.
We are facing a situation where the Senate will agree to a hideous bill, ( thanks, McConnell) and the Speaker of the House will bring it to the floor, and it will pass with all Democrat votes and maybe 10% of the GOP caucus.
And they are going to throw away their own vaunted reform rules to do so, the very promise of an open governance which is what led the American people to elect them in 2010.
This cannot be allowed to happen.

What happened to the "THREE DAY rule"? "Rules" are for little people.

The plan is for the Senate to vote on a bill the House already passed and vote on amendments.
The 3 day rule won't apply to the bill that was already passed.

Reid forced them to break the rule last year by stalling until a deadline came.
Making the Rs break their rule is a “two-fer” for Reid.

“Rules” like the “Law” is now time variant,
and applicable to some, not all.

All this is designed to possibly get a bull that Obama can sign Monday morningPossibly a typo, or maybe a Freudian slip...either way very appropriate.
To: newzjunkey
Ah, so technically they’re not breaking the rule if the name of the bill is the same even even though the language is completely different.
Reid only makes them break the spirit of the rule.

I was about to post the same thing. A very truthful slip of the pen.

If they didn’t do it that way it would not pass Constitutional muster.

A bull is a type of papal edict.
But your point is well taken, and probably more accurate!

Haven’t you noticed that in the last 10 and especially the last four years, everybody in DC is above the law? They do what they want, regardless of its impact on the country or people. I would not be surprised if they held the vote by telephone with no recording of the individual votes, just Aye or Yeah allowed.
