Not even for doctors...today their licensing is to protect the drug companies and the AMA...ALL licensing is to protect BIG BUSINESS that is supportive of the ‘govt’ agency and/or demanding protection. NONE of it has anything to do with protecting the consumer.

Regarding doctors...doctor prescribed drugs kill people...many more than are killed by guns, inner city violence, highway deaths, the war in Iraq, the war in Afganistan...all these combined. Drugs have side effects, and the FDA knows this. If the doctors cared about their patients, they would not prescribe many of the drugs that they do prescribe. Doctors, too many of them, do not care...it is all about the money.

There are proven alternative, natural solutions to most diseases, including cancer, but doctors are afraid to use them for fear of losing their license, for fear of being ostracised by the AMA or their fellow doctors. This is normal...it happens...so doctors toe the line. Patient be damned.

The Second Amendment defines the fundamental relationship between the citizens of this country and those we choose to govern us.

Some further thoughts: I noticed the other day the almost complete overlap between the currently “Blue” states and those from the Northern and Border States that fought for the Union during the last go around.

And even further: The last two wars of independence fought in this country pitted fellow citizens and relatives against each other. Many close families and friendships were at least temporarily split, but often the underlying affection remained intact beneath the animosity. And yet, although I don’t know about others, I and my close friends in liberty seem to have long ago severed any affection or positive connection we ever had to those we now regard as traitors, and even somewhat to all the many more useful idiots. “Battle lines being drawn . . . “

I think there have been times in our history when those in power intentionally ignored threats to this nation to advance their agenda. I think it is less machination and more intentional neglect.

But speaking of machination, the sinking of the Lusitania (which sparked off American involvement in WWI) might have been that generation's [equivalent of] Fast & Furious; the German's representatives here [Embassy, IIRC] bought 50 or so newspaper ads warning Americans that Germany and Britain were at war -- but due our State Department only one newspaper ran the ads. (That, in conjunction with the escorts for Lusitania being held back, makes one suspicious.)

You may well have earned it, but it was paid in confiscated money—hours upon hours of people’s lives stolen by the state. Government work is non-productive in that it is not based on a voluntary transfer by those who are stuck paying for it. Now if it were fee for service or subscription based, maybe. But you have to understand that your pension is being paid by many who will never have one themselves. They not only have to earn and save and invest to provide for themselves, but they have to do it for you as well. Or else. I don’t mean this as a slam, just a private sector perspective.

Wrong paradigm. Actually it could possibly be on a scale more like Spain in the 1930's which was much worse. I could see the escalation scenario being more like 1930's Spain too.

Americans today have learned their insurgency tactics from Mao Tse-Tung, Ho Chi Mihn and Al Qaeda. There won't be a lot of people marching around in the fields waving flags at one another.

I could see beginning with forced confiscation of individual's weapons. The right might retaliate with a war against the elites - individual and small group actions like sniper attacks, kidnappings and drive-bys against journalists, academics and celebrities who had supported abuse and infringement of the people rights. This would provoke more repressive measures by the regime and retaliation by leftist groups against prominent conservatives. People would start taking out politicians and judges, sabotaging the infrastructure and organizing into larger groups. Next stop, full scale guerrilla war with the resistance controlling or virtually controlling large areas. This would impact tax revenues. At some point the military would be ordered in and some of them would choose to support the rebels, taking their weapons with them.

If the government tries to disarm the people, at least by force, it could get very ugly and stay that way for a long time.

I have a diffent take on this idea...(Go figure)

Why is it that “we” conservatives have to win the culture war???

If a certain segment of the population of this country wants to go to hell and a handbasket, why do we need to do anything BUT make sure “WE” have our sights clear on what “we” believe the American culture to be...Think about it for a second...Why bust our humps to get people to believe in Christ, the Constitution, individual moral rights, and leave “our” beliefs intact???

Are we so distracted by this battle that we lose the war???

I do understand that the counter, “feel-good” culture can effect and drag the rest of us down, but if we hold to our beliefs, and fight for them instead of trying so hard to teach and tell those folks who don’t want to hear any of it, why do we need to battle that??? Really??? I’m just shooting from the hip here, because it just seems to me that everytime we try to force our morals and convictions on the more liberal/progressive types, they don’t take kindly to that effort, yet for the most part, their attack on us seem to bring out the appologists and other feckless types that don’t do a damn thing good for our side of the PR battle...

I say don’t engage them at all...Consentrate on the way we conduct our business in D.C. and the state houses to keep the fiscal and conservative debate prime on the minds and methods of those entities...We are not pressing “our” folks we elect to hammer those points on legislation and other issues...

We NEED virtuous people to represent us who are un-apologetic and strong to the nonsense of the left...We can slowly turn the tide of this nation if we battle on OUR terms...And keep doing that no matter what...Stop trying to be nice to the nonsense crowd...And we already know who they are...

Just my opinion...

Fair question to ask? Its nonsense to even suggest it but it begs for a reply.

Secession and/or Civil War talk show lack of faith in our Founders work. To be sure, this last election was a punch to the gut, but this is no time to play into the hands of the Communists.

The first sign of such things mentioned above would give Obama all he needs to phone China & Russia for millions of "peace keepers" boots on the ground. In a matter of months Obama will tred around on our graves in his Lincoln Hat delivering a new version of the Gettysburg Address and our great Republic will be lost forever.

As deeply hurt as we are by the current events, we must use the government system our wise Founders gave us to restore it once again. While certainly every man worth his salt would love the glory of charging the proverbial hill and winning it back with "Glory", that approach is doomed to failure.

I don't blame anyone for being angry and blowing off steam, but we have to keep our heads and maintain our patience to win this country back without violence.

Such ideas as secession etc, suggest that our Founders failed us. They did not fail us, we failed them by not being vigilant over Liberty's Garden for the last 50 years while Communist weeds were overtaking it.

And so here we are finding ourselves in a mess of our own making. Our country was not vigilant, and now we suffer. Let this serve as an important lesson to us. We must teach vigilance to our families so the future generations will remember this epic struggle against communism on our own soil.

The Communist regime is frustrated also. They lost total control in just 2 years. Meanwhile people everywhere are waking up to realize they are conservative patriots. Wins in Wis, NC, KS, and MI are not insignificant. It will take time and more work but these gains will solidify.

We got where we are today, also, due to an inept RNC led by Michael Steele. Right when we should have NAILED democrats for the financial collapse with Fannie Mae, RNC was silent and unwilling to take on Obama. RNC has never seriously contested the daily narrative, and we did not have the organizational tools Obama/DNC had.

All of this can be fixed in the next elections if we keep pushing for investigations of voter fraud, organize, and stick together. Its going to take time, a full measure of patience, and a lot of work. We can do this.

Actually, the Founders WERE secessionists and the Declaration of Independence was a brilliant secessionist manifesto. To oppose the position that “...in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth,...” is patently counterrevolutionary in the American context.

Losing the Presidential election in 2012 is cause for alarm, but it isn't cause for giving up on the Republic. Rush admits feeling "scared" after the election yet has "A Tinge Of Optimism"

Some of us are a bit quick to take the part of Paul Revere, when what we need are more Thomas Paines and campaign workers.

We won far too many political battles in 2012 to write it off as a total loss. To give up on this great Republic so quickly would be Obama's dream scenario. Democrats suffered landslide defeats with McGovern, Mondale & Carter. Did you hear them calling for secession or outright rebellion? No, they planned and kept working.

During the Clinton vs Dole contest DNC unveiled a multi-pronged effort being field tested in Colorado to reach all voter groups. The idea being to perfect and export it to other States. That is the determination they put into this thing and they did the hard work rather than cry for secession

Let me make an important point here: We are not ceding one square inch of American Soil to these Communist Bastards. Period.

Our Founders may well have been surprised it lasted this long, considering their fervent pleas for Vigilance and references to the usual shelf life for Republics in the pages of history. Yet, we are still here precisely because they studied the causes of demise, and installed means of defense in the courts and at the polls, and a government of slow change to give us time to win the battlefield of ideas .

As long as our Republic still stands we have to continue to honor the Founders that gave it to us after taking great risk and sacrifice. Many brave Patriots purchased it with their lives. So mere frustration is insufficient excuse for throwing in the towel. We can't let them win this easily what was purchased by such great sacrifice, no matter how much they want us to.

Even now, Obama hands us the 2014 mid-terms with this ill-advised gun grab shenanigans. Clinton brought the South into the conservative ranks, Obama gives us Wisconsin, North Carolina, and possibly Michigan!

I don't blame the folks who posted in this thread, I share the sentiment, but however ugly and painful the next four years are going to be we can win, if and only if we all work for it. Let's channel this anger toward winning in 2014. The Tea Party approach of replacing RINO's in the primaries and after that, to borrow from Rumsfeld: "you go to election with the conservatives you have" - is a slow but effective process. Ted Cruz being a shining example. It will work. We have to keep working at it. IMHO.
