Born and raised in the Sacramento Valley, resident of the San Francisco Bay Area for over 30 years.
I have seen liberalism and let me tell you, it don't work.
I've traveled widely, I was in Berlin when the Gorbachev coup took place and spent a pleasant afternoon out in front of the Soviet Embassy, in the company of some scruffy kids chanting "Freiheit fur Gorbachev, Handen hoff dem Balten Stats", or something like that.
I've spent a lot of time working in Latin America and was in Bogota when the FARCistas blew up the hydroelectric plant that supplied 1/4th of the electricity for the country. It's very exciting to be in a hotel in a strange country when the lights go off, the air raid sirens sound and the phone stops working. Besides, I hate it when terrorist attacks interupt Monday Night Football.
My greatest concerns regarding Latin America is not illegal immigration but growing Muslim and Chinese influence. In the "Tres Fronteras" region, where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay come together there are a LOT of Muslems, mostly Lebanese and NOT friendly folks at all. People flow across the borders uncontested and unchecked. You can walk across a bridge from Ciudad del Este, Paraguay to Foz do Iguazu, Brazil without anyone so much as saying "ola" This would be a great place to get lost if you were a terrorist.
Other interests include the study of history, from Herodotus to the present, Coins - mostly ancient Roman, the space program and guns (NRA member for several years). My favorite period in history is the Severan dynesty of the Roman Empire. Old Septimius knew how to deal with Iraqis but should have done more about securing the border and controlling sibling ravalry between the boys.
