To: Doc Savage

Not to nitpick but my nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away and ptobaly has more guns that I do. If it came to it a person could turn in the Mini-14 and keep the AR, AK, M1 whatever, sort of a throw down gun for the Feds. It might be that leaving them a few to find protects the rest. This needs further tactical review but there’s a solution in there somewhere.

Yes, a "sacrificial offering" would probably keep the jackbooted thugs from gutting your house - at lease initially. At the very least, any hardware built in the days before serial numbers and/or purchased off-paper should be stored away from the stuff they might come looking for.

As for the Mini-14, did you know that a version was sold in the U.K. after their gun ban? It lacked a complete gas system; there was no gas port drilled. It became a straight-pull bolt action. Wasn't there a pump version of the AR on the market in California?
