I didn’t mean to imply that Hitler purged the SA because of the fruits, rather he purged them — as you pointed out — due to a power struggle; but the SA leadership was notoriously fruit.
I have little concern with the training use and number of rounds they procured. My contention, based on the unusual public story regarding the Agencies ammo purchases (which is normally not news), was that it was intended to increase the tension of Pro-Constitutional citizens.
X-spurt, I agree about the news of the “big ammo purchases” being upsetting and a tension increaser.
I was quite relieved to read dirtboy’s evaluation; that had been a thought in the back of my mind and am glad he put it out there.
But I saw some very rational computations of how that ammo would be used by agents for qualification - and federal agents have to qualify FOUR times a year, from what I read (and what was linked to).
I do not trust government one bit. But I also have learned to take conspiracy news with a grain of salt and to follow it up with my own research and reading. We have to pick the right hills to fight upon.
