They should have to pass the same APFT standards as their male coutnerparts then. I can understand how females can get away with lower physical fitness standards in the support MOSs and I have no problem with that but if they’re signing up for a purely infantry role, they need to be held to the same fitness standards as the men they serve with. If they aren’t, there will be major problems. Glad my 8 years are done and over with.
I have little problem with this, but they should be very careful what they ask for. You say your career opportunities are limited by not being in the combat arms? How will your career fare if you try and fail? Which you likely will if fair standards are applied across the board. Oh, a few freaks will make it and have their media moments. But the majority of women will not be able to match the average man for sheer strength and stamina. And consider what you will be giving up to do this.
