Just to be clear, if you read the entire prosecuter’s summary, you’ll find that the female is certainly no innocent female, having multiple run-ins with the law.

None of which have any bearing on what happened on this particular evening, and none of which could have influenced the police in making decisions, because they had no idea who was in the car.

My point being that the police made a decision that the passenger was a participant in mayhem, but in this case that was a bad assumption. All because of a car backfire...

Look before you leap is a good idea when gunfire is involved. The number of shots fired in combat has increased dramatically since WWII so how many of these guys are vets. It’s the cops that need the 7 round magazines. Most that I’ve seen shoot, including SWAT, are awful. According to Dept of Labor stats it is much more dangerous being a teacher than a COP and don’t even compare them to truck drivers and the guy cutting your lawn as it gets really embarassing.
