I have been critical of Rubio for a year, now, and have never said anything in favor of him. He is well loved by conservatives for what seems to me to be the same reasons liberals love BO. A smooth talker who can schmooze the other side, who can cater to the Hispanic vote with zero obvious regard for the Constitution, which people even on the right seem willing to forgive for votes.
He was very vocal in favor of the UN’s sovereignty over the US, and I have cited that since I did a search after everyone was fawning over him. He has always frightened me.
So, I’m actually sick of people adoring these guys with no research, but with the sensibilities of a 15 year old with a crush, and I always held that position.
While Cruz was citing, during the filibuster, personal experience in defending the Constitution, Rubio was citing lines from “The Godfather”, while saying he did not know whether he was keeping up with the argument. It was just as doofus as his drink of water which I never defended. I couldn’t watch and when I finally did it was worse than I thought.
My opinion, as has always been, of Rubio is such that I would not have been surprised if he had gone to the dinner, and has credit for not having done so for knowing which way the wind is blowing.
Cruz, on the other hand, is sincere.
bump
Rubio is a good conservative as is Cruz. Cruz is more of a strict Constitutionalist and the more conservative of the two. He is also my Senator. Go Cruz!
I voted for Rubio for Senate and I’m glad I did. Is he perfect? No. But he was light years better than Charlie Crist or the liberal Democrat he was running against. Plus, I think he’s better than roughly 90% of the U.S. Senators. If we can keep “moving the bar” and have Rubio be our worst problem, we’ll be in very good shape indeed.
Having said that, Ted Cruz was very impressive during the filibuster and I look forward to more good things from him.
Sounds like he would make a great Supreme Court Justice.
And, since they can’t say he’s stupid, the Left and the MSM has gone into overdrive portraying him as a McCarthyite nut who waives enemies lists around. Any time the MSM sees a rising conservative star, they figure out a storyline to cut them down. They did it to Palin, now they are doing it to Rubio and Cruz.
Paul, Lee, and Cruz UP+++
Rubio and Ryan DOWN imho...

We’ll need a Republican president first~ seems a distant memory
Yep.
Honestly, I have to say at this point that Rubio and Ryan, whom I voted for -both of them-, remind me of little sissy boys.
Typical GOP, not only useless, but dangerous.
As far as I am concerned, working across the aisle is treason.

Yep. There is no common ground with the enemy.
None.
Anyone who goes and dines with the devil, Mr. Ryan and the 12 Judases, can stay with the devil.
Cruz, like Rubio, seems to have significant legislative/legal experience, but both are light on executive experience.
At least Paul Rand created a medical clinic and ran it before he entered politics.

I maintain my assertion that senators do not make good executives. I could point to the current occupant of the Oval Office. I could also point to the recently former Secretary of State.
Where are the Republican governors? Is Christie the only one who seems to have any interest in the presidency? Are the others too busy trying to get their share of the Obamacare money from Santa Obama?
“Sorry, dont see community organizer in there anywhere, obviously an under achiever.”
Agree. And I bet Mr. Cruz has probably has never had the courage to go out on a limb and vote ‘Present’ on a key issue. Heck, Cruz probably doesn’t even take 13- 16 weeks of vacation a year like a real leader...
(yes that was sarcasm, I voted for Cruz)
The Cruz Missile rocks out loud!!
Rubio-—No thanks good thing hes not an NBC
Cruz...Too bad hes not eligible/an NBC
Paul...NBC/eligible..
In our particular circumstances, the President is SO far to the left that any ‘deal’ with our knock-kneed leadership ends up being something the Castro brothers would have NO problem with...
“Sounds like he would make a great Supreme Court Justice.”
I agree, and a fabulous Chief Justice which doesn’t require NBC status.
I do not believe Cruz is a NBC, but he could end up being president by taking advantage of the same end-around that Barry took which is evading any challenge on the merits.
John McCain had standing to challenge Barry but he punted, probably due to s secret agreement by each party not to challenge the evident ineligibility of both candidates, IMO, in 2008.
