I'm an eye witness to Obama's motorcade yesterday. The Zocolo and adjoining areas were securely tied up. The city closed down at least two metro stops (that I saw). The microbus I took downtown dropped me off about 1/2 mile from the Zocolo (its regular route) because the city had closed the streets to car traffic. Mucha policia guarded ubiquitous metal gates. Then came the long motorcade. Secret Service everywhere. I honestly did not know that the hoopla was for Obama. I thought it was for the President of Mexico and his very famous wife, Gaviota (Angelica Rivera). I've seen two Popes and I've never seen that kind of security. I saw a Mexican carrying a sign, "Obama Go Home."
They are not seemingly in love with him?
Blame America Tour 2013
I can’t say. I don’t know. This video was taken one block from the Zocolo and there didn’t seem to be that many people lining the streets. I asked my friend’s mother later that day who would be paying for all the security. She said very quickly, the Mexican taxpayer.
Did you thank him?..........
“”Obama Go Home.”
So the sign in spanish was “Obama Puta Vamos”?
We saw a cross-town, D.C. motorcade, a couple of years ago, that was 3-4 times what this shows. My comment to a friend was “..and this was a HOME game!”
I only filmed a small portion of the morotcade. My memory chip was almost full so waited to turn on the camera. It went on long after the limo passed and included a motorcycle brigade of about 100.
Apparently he is seeking his supporters, as they need to be imported these days.
You understand, Obama’s not stupid. He’s thinking long term. This is the same administration that is telling Mexican citizens how to apply for food stamps in the US. And you know and I know and everyone knows it’s really about getting votes and retaining power.
