He would be more useful to them if his demise were violent and could be tied to some conservative group. I wouldn’t be surprised if Air Force One were to have some sort of “accident” on take-off or landing but because of the massive antimissile defenses it has, such a thing would be unlikely.
Movie and book plots seem to have a way of showing up in real life, Tom Clancy’s “debt of Honor” with a fully fueled 747 being crashed into the Capitol Building during a State of the Union address and certainly pre-dated 9/11 and the WTC. The most likely scenario for Odumbo would be something like in the movie “Shooter”. With an ultra-long-range shot with a .50 cal or larger rifle a new federal ban on large caliber rifles would be a shoo-in.
