I don’t think minors could buy cigarettes in 1975.

6.You could get a job without having to prove you were an American.

Libertarian theology apparently does not believe in national borders.

And with all the Freedoms we've lost, we're not a damned bit more secure. In fact we're probably less safe now than we were back in the days when we were facing nuclear annihilation at the hands of the Soviets. Of course, then we had prayer in public schools and God in public discourse.

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

4.You could buy a gun without showing an ID

Not in Pennsylvania. It was absolutely required. Same for the purchase of ammo.

I don’t know. I remember my mom in 1956 buying tix on United to bring us back to NYC from SF. She didn’t drive so she had no license. Her Social was in her maiden name. The agent would not sell her the tickets. Her uncle who was the civilian chief of the SF Naval Shipyard finally laid down a plethora of his credentials and the agent relented.

Not necessarily related to freedom, but in 1975 I could at least turn on the tv and not immediately encounter something that would viscerally repell me to the point of wanting to vomit.

I think it was GCA 68 that gave us the 4474 form, and I think you had to show ID.

And 5 may be wrong, I believe there was an automatic report of transactions over a threshold that varied from day to day.

Otherwise, yes.

You could carry a knife in a school, or on a plane.

I was a mother/homemaker. My husband worked for $2.50 per hour. I could take my daughter and myself to the doctor without insurance and afford to pay his fee without any problem. I also stopped by the pharmacy on the way home and don’t ever remember thinking it was expensive. I paid the doctor and hospital fees for delivery without insurance. I also used BC pills which I paid for monthly.

Things really have changed!

One not on the list, but I know you could do back in the day but not now: buy a 600-count bottle of Sudafed tablets at the drugstore.

Heck, I expect a visit from the ATF tonight just for mentioning it!

You could chew your poptart into any shape you wanted and not get busted.
You could buy any toilet, showerhead, or light bulb you wanted.
