The video is worth the time.
I second that, though it could have proceeded more quickly.
I believe what we're looking at in much of contemporary so-called "art" is a triumph of deliberate ugliness over beauty. Most small children outgrow temper tantrums; some don't.
Yes it is. And the ideas and concepts he discusses are applicable to many things in modern society/culture.
But in a purely creative context, “Modern” art/music et all is the result of ‘artists’ being given participation trophies and told they were special.
And of course the Communist desire to replace beautiful art with ugly forms... is it surprising that most artistic types subscribe to communism today? I am not shocked.

Communist goals from 1963 (cited in Congressional Record):
22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”
23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

Beauty and Truth go hand-in-hand as do Ugliness and Falsehood.
Really good. Worth looking at just for the scores of beautiful paintings he’s pulled together. I like modern art too but can’t stand the totalitarianism and belittling of the beautiful that comes with it.
