I don’t know how it is considered stolen when people sign up for it when they sign their deeds. Taxes are part of it when you sign the bottom line.

They have carte blanche to raise taxes during the worst recession in 70 years. And they raise the rates by 2 to 3 times what "inflation" is. I never signed up for that.

Additionally, families living in apartments with 5 kids get schooling benefits of almost $60,000, yet do not pay in a dime.

How is that fair???? Please, explain that to me.

Oh gosh. Really? You compare yourself to a renter who does not have anything to show for it at the end. You are better off.....you lower your taxes every year until the deed is paid and then get to sell the home for a MUCH higher price then you paid for it (if you wait at least 30 years). If you are jealous of renters then you are CRAZY! I would never want to rent. By the way, the rents go up every year too. I know in Annapolis you are paying rents around 1600 dollars and that is for a small apartment. I am paying around 2300 a month for my house....yep more but at least it is going towards something. My Mom’s home in Pennsylvania has a tax of around 2000 a year....I should be so lucky.

Supposedly they pay indirectly through property taxes but even if that were true, the benefit received far exceeds the payment. The property tax was a good idea when only people who owned property could vote. Frankly, I’d remove voting from anyone who pays no taxes beyond social security and medicare. The notion that you can vote to remove money from your neighbors wallet is repugnent to me as that “money” is representative of having spent part of my life, a major part, in working for it while they are sitting on their cans collecting benefits. There should be an equitable way to ensure the truly disabled or aged are cared for but beyond that there is no free lunch.

The landlord pays the taxes and passes it on to the renters.

The building owner pays property taxes right?

Those taxes are paid with rent collections right?

So tell me again how renters don’t indirectly pay property taxes?

But honestly, we wound NOT have these types of problems if only land owners could vote.

I know what you are saying, but technically they do pay.

I live in PA and had a rental property (used to live in it) and I paid the same property taxes on it as a rental as when I lived in it. The renters paid me rent, then I paid the property tax. So yes, the renters do not pay property taxes directly, but it is part of their rent and the property owner pays it out of the money he collects for rent.
