My first gen Sweede/American dad used to talk about two strong men called (sounds like) Gustav Acoola and another one called (again sounds like) Boosinee Beck.
Anyone else ever hear of these guys? Never been able to find any other source besides dad and I don’t think he made it up.

While at least we have positive evidence of the Viking settlement (1000AD) from multiple sources and physical evidence at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland, what all of the "Other than Columbus" discovery advocates choose to miss is that it was Columbus that started the PERMANENT European knowledge of the Wester Hemisphere.
It matters not that the Phoenicians, Chinese, Irish, Hebrews, or whomever landed on the extensive shore of the Western Hemisphere before Columbus, still it was he, in 1492 that started, for better or ill, the permanent knowledge of the AMERICAS! None-the-less I will give honors to Eric & Lief, sailing the North Atlantic in those Knarrs was a very MANLY Work!
Why is it Amerigo Vespucci who names the continents rather than Cristobal Colon remains an irritant to me but pace, they are both dead!

Grandma always told me that I was so dark because the Vikings kidnapped the gypsy princesses and brought them back to Norway to marry. What if the Vikings kidnapped some Chinese princesses? I’ll bet that’s where Herring Foo Yung came from.
