When my son was injured and required extensive hospitalization in 2011 (he is a Marine), it was Fisher House, Semper Fi Fund and Charity Works who provided for travel expenses, lodging, food, rental cars; even cash for essentials for the family while staying with the injured.
(Our troops injuries rarely result in a week stay at the hospital, my son was in for 14 months, and they encouraged family members involvement as much as possible).
They were wonderful, and came to the hospital to check on the family members.
I have heard encouraging things about Fisher House...It is a growing organization from the aspect that they are not growing, their services in cities around the country are what are expanding...
