It's not "hard" for me to imagine a disgraced former Marine defector using an Italian military rifle at that distance to kill a man. The "hard" part is the obvious conspiracy after the fact, i.e., Jack Ruby, rushing the body back to Washington (violating who knows how many state laws in the process), LBJ's actions, the laughable Warren Commission and their report and etc., etc.

The Jack Ruby aspect is a non-starter for me. Oswald was supposed to be transported at 10 am. He was delayed because they decided to interview him one last time before the transfer. At 10 am, Ruby was still at home in his boxers. He didn’t leave his house until almost 11 am and the date stamp on the Western Union transfer he made was at 11:17. From there he just wandered back over to the police station like he had ever since Oswald had been detained. It was just dumb luck that he settled in right at the time that Oswald was finally being moved, over an hour late. I think his was just an impulsive act.
