Here is where I was when I heard the news that Obama is a liar.
It was a shocking moment. It was the press conference at which Obama called the Chrysler bondholders "speculators" and criticized them for holding up (i.e., not bending over for the UAW) the assembly of the prepackaged Chapter 11 for Chrysler.
I was walking past the television at my home, heading to the kitchen for something to drink, and I glanced over at the television, which had been running FNC all morning. They cut to Obama, and as I hear the word "speculators" I thought "he knows better than that". Harvard Law Review President does not know that bondholders purchase instruments that specify their liquidation priority on their face? He doesn't know that?
And the answer is that, of course, he knows it, he just ignored that to score political points. That set the hairs on the back of my neck erect. I will never forget that. I had very low expectations for Obama, but that was just shocking.
“Friends” (in their 70’s) of ours were lamenting their losses on their bonds right after his first election....too bad, so sad...they voted for the one!
The whole thing was so obviously wrong. Shocking is a good word for it.
