And how many other states will go with TEXAS!

Over half, I imagine. Texas would merely be the first domino to fall.

Ah, yeah, because they went the SCOTUS route last time they seceded...

Righteous outrage is easy but too often these days I see conservatives using it to hide the fact that they’re retreating.

What we need is some heavy lifting because we’ve run too far.

There are a couple hurdles to secession. Lots of Federal infrastructure in Texas that the other 49 states contributed to. Going to give that back or pay the other 49 states back? Texas is not going to just up and leave the union with out ponying up quite a bit of money or getting their asses kicked in the process during repossession.

Hey, don't get me wrong, if Texas goes the route of seceding, I want to know where I can donate my wealth during said process to the cause while I get my affairs in order to move there. I'm up for a fight from "that" side of the new border.

If I am not mistaken, Texas, being the only state that was once a nation, has in its constitution the right to return to nation status. Correct me if I am wrong.

On Texas's terms of Union, the regnant document should be the congressional resolution that recognized Texas annexation (not Statehood -- Texas was a State before she was in the Union: a good example of a State not "created by" or a "creature of" Congress according to the favorite formulation of Union triumphalists and statists -- who share that political theory with Adolf Hitler) and laid out its terms.

Texas does most certainly have the right to subdivide into as many as five States of the Union by preclearance from the Congress.

Hey, Schmucky Chuckie, how's that grab you? Watching Cornyn and Cruz waltzing eight new Texican colleagues down the Senate aisle? You like that one?

I’ve always thought that Alaska would be the first state to secede.

I'll admit, they do have a lot in common with Texans. A fierce spirit of independence and individualism marks both states.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they handed a $7 million dollar check over to Uncle Sugar and said, "bye!"

And after secession, will TX kick out the liberals and illegals, establish English as the national language, close all borders and ban any attempt by the muslims to establish sharia and allow God back in society?

If they don’t do all these things, they will just become like the country from which they seceded.

A lot of effort for nothing.

Lots of Federal infrastructure in Texas that the other 49 states contributed to.

And vice versa. Where's our slice of the Virgin Islands?

Like what? A few military bases and the Johnson Space Administration?

All of it's on Texas land. If the blue states want to be reimbursed for the building costs, we'll likely remind them that we get back less than a dollar for every dollar we pay in federal taxes.

If we go, everything that's stamped "U.S." will be impounded by an act of the Texas legislature.

Well, let’s see here. I was taught that about 10% wanted to take down the British in the American REVOLUTION. The rest is history.

It’s the doin’ that counts, not doin’ the countin’, thar, slick.

(My Walter Brennan imitation.) I think I will coin that phrase though. :)

“Maybe “Puissant” should be “ pissant””

I typed “pissant” and auto correct made it puissant so I thought I didn't care what the puissant (see, it changed it again), was called. Auto correct has a red line under your “pissant” and my “pissant”. Let's just call Eric Holder a damn nuisance POS. Auto correct didn't change that.

This is Texas we're talking about, which makes that a moot question.

Enjoy embargo with that line of thought.

So if China moves into Taiwan and expands its sphere of influence deep into the Pacific, perhaps Russia would get a piece of the action by making Alaska into a satellite/ally.

God, I hope not! That would be a strategic nightmare for everyone else in the Americas. It's bad enough that there are so many Chinese in Vancouver and Panama.

“Johnson Space Administration”

A bit of history: Lady Bird Johnson owned the land NASA sits on in Clear Lake. The govn. bought it from Lady Bird. That had to be a few dollars changing hands. I lived in Clear Lake area for over 16 years.
