Just a damn minute. When you are over 65, you must be on Medicare and we pay for that every month over $100 and the vast majority of us have a supplement policy that costs us over $200 a month and we pay it. Those over 65 would include vast numbers of ex-military men and would be on our Texas front lines.
Medicaid people get free medical care - we on Medicare do not and we are valuable contributing Texans. Take back what you said about shipping Medicare people out of Texas and I might not beat you silly. :o)
Amen. The true spirit of America still resides here, and will not stand mute while the last vestiges of freedom are destroyed throughout the rest of the republic.
This state has been about as civil as it can be, faced with what's gone on in Washington these last several years. There's a limit, though, and Obama is pushing it. I honestly don't know whether the people here can take another three years of worsening tyranny.
Something's got to give.

I immigrated to Texas three years ago.
I would not go back to the state where I was born and raised for anything.
I feel more free here, more independent, more “git er done “ :D

No, I believe Texas was the first state to reject expansion of Medicaid. It happened so early, I recall thinking we were the first to reject it.

This heavily popularized bit of Texas folklore finds no corroboration where it counts: No such provision is found in the current Texas Constitution[1] (adopted in 1876) or the terms of annexation.[2] However, it does state (in Article 1, Section 1) that “Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States...” (note that it does not state “...subject to the President of the United States...” or “...subject to the Congress of the United States...” or “...subject to the collective will of one or more of the other States...”)

No, we're going to organize a constitutional convention that will re-establish the United States of America as a 44-State federated Republic that doesn't include the six New England States or downstate New York east of the center-channel of the Hudson River downstream of the Croton Reservoir.
The alienated (by disinvitation) States would include Chappaqua, New York, Riker's Island, Chappaquiddick, Hyannis Port, Harvard Yard, and other immortal altars of Ruling Class glory.
The United States would retain Bedloe's Island and its green colossus, Ellis Island and its memories of humble beginnings, and West Point.
Sounds like a deal to me.
Deported? People may as well consider “elsewhere” before too long, if this country is going to become unrecognizable and disarmed to boot. Delayed action is getting riskier by the day.

I’ve always thought that Alaska would be the first state to secede. It’s cold, isolated, it’s people are well armed and independent. It has the potential to be energy dependent if it develops refineries, and oil exports could be used to support a currency. Alaska could also play off the US by making agreements with China or Russia. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few Alaskan oilmen have already met with Russian or Chinese arms dealers.
So if China moves into Taiwan and expands its sphere of influence deep into the Pacific, perhaps Russia would get a piece of the action by making Alaska into a satellite/ally.
