Most of the grid in California is fused at short intervals, and would come back up quickly. (as in a day at most)

Home appliances, on the other hand, might not fare well if they are plugged in.

Most of the grid in California is fused at short intervals, and would come back up quickly.

Problem is that the main transformers would be fried.....no spares....and no manufacturing capacity to build new ones.
