Indian nationals who came to the US 30,40 years ago have told me that it was exceptionally difficult then to do so, you not only had to be in the top fraction of 1$ but also very lucky. Now it’s much easier, and as long as they follow immigration law, it’s a win-win.

Simple answer is that US universities aren’t turning out many engineers hence there is a ready market for people with these skills. It would seem that US colleges and universities are pushing students into worthless degrees like peace studies, womyn’s studies etc.
