As a conservative, I am a minority, sometimes a persecuted one, in many settings.

I hear you. Where I live, I'm a racial minority. And believe me, none of the nonwhites are fretting about me, wondering if I'm comfortable and happy, or crying over my plight.

It felt awkward. It would have been different if someone would have said something like, “Welcome to blah blah barbershop, have a sit and we’ll be with you in a few minutes”, but there was nothing but silence. It looked like they felt as awkward as I did.
