As far down as the plane is in that image with Fuddy by the door, there would be no way the door would have closed before submerging, IMHO. The upward pressure of the water would have held it upon right up to the very end.

All I am doing is trying to show the same images from different angles. That door appears to be open way up high in one shot, because the photograph is being taken from below, where-as, as the plane sinks, and Yamamoto and Fuddy are in front of the door, it's not nearly as wide open. It's all a matter of angles, imo.
