Noah: a classic blunder

In Noah, we have a farce trying to wear serious clothes.

Paramount, my favorite studio, purveyor of all things Star Trek, Forrest Gump, Ferris Bueller, Top Gun, and Airplane!, has fallen into the most famous classic blunder.

Never make a Biblically themed movie unless it's really based on the Bible.

Actually, the most famous classic blunder is never get involved in a land war in Asia, and then only slightly less well-known is never make a Biblically themed movie unless it's really based on the Bible.

If Paramount and Aronofsky had simply made a movie about a homicidal man and his two dysfunctional oversexed sons, who descended from aliens to a world filled with magical snake skins and lava monsters, but named them differently than Noah, Ham and Shem, it would fly just fine.

“Methuselah uses his magical powers on Hermione to make her fertile. She in turn immediately chases after Shem, strips and rips off Harry Potter’s Shem’s clothes, and they have sex right there under the trees.”

Well, if the movie’s got an Emma Watson sex scene, the Harry Potter fans might make up for all the lost Christian viewers.

Did you ever see EPIC? They have a great parody of Harry Potter in it.

I wouldn’t invest the time to watch the whole thing, it’d be a waste, just that one part.

Like just about anything and everything Hollyweird releases these days the movie 'NOAH' is nothing more than sheer fantasy and make believe, IMHO. I haven't seen it and have no intention on seeing it but I have read more than enough reviews by credible (Christian) anchored authors of whom I trust and believe more than Russell Crow himself and his fellow movie actors and producers and et. al. I'll save my money and go back and see 'GOD'S NOT DEAD' again. That was entertainment money well spent. I give 'NOAH' a big thumbs down.

As an aside, Crow has caused me to stop and re-evaluate my opinion of him due to his vitriolic and seemingly outright hateful attitude towards anyone who dares to have the gall to criticize the movie for whatever reason. Strikes me as being thinned skinned and unable to tolerate differing opinions. Sorry, he lost me as a fan over his hatred towards Bible believers.

The film has very high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.

For me that is no surprise as I rarely agree with their reviews. Several times I have to marvel at how they arrive at some of their conclusions in their reviews. I often think to myself "what planet do these guy's live on anyway"?!

Even Danny Kaye with a broken leg would be better than this movie.

not a blunder - they knew what they were doing

In full agreement. Too many people these days their sense of history and when time began is formed based on some movie they've seen. After all why read it for themselves when they can just watch some movie about it even if it isn't very accurate or listen to some liberals version of re-written history in a liberally slanted or biased classroom. IMO this is dangerous and self-defeating. I'm reminded by what George Santayana once said on a similar subject:

George Santayana. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
George Santayana (16 December 1863 in Madrid, Spain – 26 September 1952 in Rome, Italy)
was a philosopher, essayist, poet and novelist.

Anyone see Gravity with an opinion?

I bought the disc in anticipation of a great movie. I instead got barely above a yawn by the end of it. Sorry but that was my take on it.

I liked Gravity. It was improbable, but fun.

It was mildly entertaining to me but it just couldn't hold my interest very long. Perhaps maybe the over-hyped reviews got my expectations too high. These days I tend to look at the movie trailers and friends personal reviews/opinions of said movie rather than listen to some over paid movie reviewer whose job it is (likely) to actually get people to pay money to see their clients movies. Too often their reviews are just too much fantasy to suit me. I ended up trusting the professional reviewers opinion against my better judgement.

Hmm, I tried to find it on youtube, but I get a million “epic Harry Potter moments” or “epic Harry Potter song tribute” videos.

Did you mean “Epic Movie” and not the newer “Epic”? I remember that one had a Harry Potter parody that was funny, with a guy from Kids in the Hall who must be 45 playing Harry Potter :)

You think like me . . . and the author of the article:

Actually, the second most famous classic blunder is "never go in against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line!"

But never make a Biblically themed movie unless it's really based on the Bible is a close third.

And we all know what happened to Vizzini, the Sicilian who gave us the second most well known classic blunder . . .

I know he says he is not kidding, but is he? That review can't be accurate....can it...?

According the Nickname it's totally accurate. It sounds like something John Semmens would write.

Here’s another deal breaker:

Just heard a review on 600 radio San Diego

On the ark Noah has a reflection on the world to date. Evolution of animals to humans.

Enjoy

My thoughts exactly. But the director did say it was the most unbiblical movie ever.
