I was all ready to browse on over to “About Common Core” and send them a donation, but all I get is a picture of a smartphone, and an option to “Dowload an App”. I’m one of the dozen or so U.S. citizens still using dumb phones. I used to do Tech Support for a living for crying out loud, but now I guess it’s time for me to just fade away.......
No download without some serious explanations as to why each is required.

Here’s something that’s going to be lots of fun.
My school, unfortunately, was chosen as one of the “test cases” for CC testing this year and we are being required to test students on CC standards over the Internet — on computers WE DO NOT HAVE on WiFi hook-up THAT WE DO NOT HAVE.
Testing is supposed to start tomorrow, don’t know when the tablets, laptops or whatever it is we’re supposed to use are being delivered — or when the WiFi will be set up, we’ve been promised WiFi for FIVE YEARS NOW and it still hasn’t been installed.
Our kids have had NO practice typing anything (for written answers), let alone experience with a tablet or laptop with which they’re unfamiliar. Keyboarding and typing classes were eliminated a number of years ago. Texting is not typing.
Not to worry — the tests cannot be done since there is no way to take them over the Internet.
Other teachers are worried, but I’m not, let it implode, as these things always do.
