Okay, the article. Got it.
When the end comes, many will become zombies. They'll eat most of the "fuel," until "the electrical grid goes down" and the "global supply chain fails." So they'll eat all of the food and imports, too.
The article describes them as "mindless tattooed obese slobs, " who shop at "Macys and Chipotle." So they're esteemed political class folks. Really, the piece gets pretty good toward the end. Here's an excerpt.
The sickness is caused by being imprisoned for twelve years in government run public schools, watching thousands of hours of propaganda emitted by the corporate media, viewing hundreds of brain cell destroying reality TV shows, reading and sending thousands of texts and tweets, and being overwhelmed by the delusional belief spending more than they make, saving nothing, and piling up mountains of debt is the path to success in our contaminated society...Every American has the zombie virus within them. It has been incubated by corrupt vote seeking politicians, control hungry government sociopaths, mind numbingly worthless public education, and the relentless dumbing down through corporate media propaganda and vacuous reality TV entertainment. Once cogent thinking aware citizens have been zombiefied into mindless impulsive consumers.
That's pretty good writing after all.
"
How can you not see the parallels between American society and the zombies in the Walking Dead?" Interesting. Most of the rest, though, appears to be rather hyperbolic and sensational. We're already halfway through the "collapse," and it's happening very slowly and quietly. Moo.

I have to disagree with that. According to www.numberofabortions.com there have been 1.3 BILLION abortions worldwide since 1980. We can complain about overpopulation all we want, but when that many human beings are being killed so as to control the population, there's something really wrong with the human psyche.
However I do agree with your concerns regarding IVF, and especially using females as surrogates to create children for homosexual couples. There is something about people that is so paradoxically self destructive yet still the procreative instinct exists even in the most flawed of humans.

Electricity is nice, but it's not a necessity for those who are prepared. Shelter, water, food, security, medicine, and a way to replenish your supplies - these are the real necessities.
We only use approximately 42 gallons of water per day, and that assumes we flush the toilet every 2 hours (we don't). If we switched to camp style dish-washing, laundry, and bathroom, we wouldn't need that much.
Since we have a well, and several backup ways to access it, we have a water supply, in addition to our 22 gallons of bottled water we have 2000 gallons of rain water and the supplies we need to make it potable.
We have a year's supply of most basic food staples, and are working on getting a year's supply of everything else. The least we have is 3 months for some items (not considering fresh perishable stuff).
Plenty left to do. We have always stocked up for emergencies, since we have power outages and tornadoes pretty often. It is hard to believe that there are people who do nothing to prepare for the chance of an emergency.
Did anyone see that woman in New York area after hurricane Sandy, standing on a street corner, yelling President Obama, we need help, we are dying out here? I don't know about you, but begging Zero for help, is not part of my preparedness plans.

I don't know its as good a plan as some on FR have, two for which is to expect preppers to 'share' and to rob preppers. Of course even on FR we have people who flat out told me that prepping was not needed because help always comes flooding in from else where when ever there is a disaster.
