At the very least Earth Day ought to be move two days earlier to coincide with Hitler’s birthday.

The original idea of the EPA was good, to clean up the air and water. We didn't want rivers catching fire and wanted them safe for fish and fishing. We wanted to be able to see our mountains out here.

They accomplished the mission, but have now been captured by lefty extremists who abuse it to stop development and shut down industries they don't like.

I noticed it didn’t merit as much mention as it has in the past; I’d imagine that is because this country is increasingly populated by Third World populations that see “Earth Day” as a wealthy white people thing.

Disney uses it as an excuse to push some animal movie. (low cost to make and easy money)

earth day is going to be like boss’ day.

Is this the day I was supposed to turn all my electric devices on?

I can never keep up.

One of the Earth Day consequences that we have is the EPA, which liberals and eco-nuts will gleefully remind us was signed into law by Richard Nixon. However, one of the most pertinent facts that liberals leave out of their diatribes is that, at the time, such an organization was needed.

I strongly disagree. As much as I respected RMN in 1960 when I was just a shade too young to vote for him, I campaigned unceasingly for him against JFK. The Nixon elected in 1968 bore scant resemblance to the brave fighter for Conservatism of eight years prior. He went soft by the time he rose to the presidency. The EPA was not needed then nor is it needed now.

I know whereof I speak on this matter. Although I was conceived in Texas, my father's death while fighting in WWII led to my mom moving to Pennsylvania during her pregnancy and although life begins as conception, my BC shows Pennsylvania. The tri-state region was still prosperous in the 40s, 50s and 60s when I was growing up. J&L, USS, Union Electric and host of other mills were running around the clock and nearly full-employment was the norm. Sure there was a faint whiff of that rotten egg smell in the air but that was the smell of prosperity. And, on many a weekend night, while out with my friends and our dates at the drive in, we could see the molten red flowing into the West Mifflin slag heap. In those pre-EPA days, you could see (and admittedly, smell) that the region was was an economic engine powering the world.

I don't get back very often, but when I do, I chat with the old-timers of my generation and their surviving parents. To a man, they'd give anything for the return of the so-called "Smoky City" and the prosperity of that era.

Having an Earth Day offends the sensibilities almost as much as a “free speech zone.”

I went to an earth day event some years ago. They had people selling the solar panels, and water purification systems. There was a parrot club trying to get you to adopt a parrot. They had an electric car there. And the Hare Krishnas were there, entertaining all with their chants.

I was supposed to march in an early morning protest on the first Earth Day, but instead of hitting snooze on my alarm, I hit off, and missed the march. My girlfriend broke up over that.

No loss, and as it worked out, its fair to say I slept through the rest of the enviro movement.

After 30 years as the operator of a privately-owned public water supply company, I retired in January. I don’t have to deal with the a-holes at the epa anymore! HOORAY!

Environmentalism is a religion. If some people don't pray to God, they will substitute some other kind of religion. Because they need a purpose in their lives. The earth then substitutes for God in their lives.

I'm not religious, but I know many religious people. They do not try to impress their religious views on me. Environmentalists are different. They will not be satisfied until everybody lives in a 12x12 crackerbox in a huge megalopolis. No cars, no planes, no machines, no guns... except for the enviro-elites. Nobody will be allowed outside their huge city so as not to "ruin" the earth. That is their goal. In that respect, they are as evil as the lunatic Islamists. They are the western version of the Taliban.

Weren’t one of the founders of earh day one Ira Einhorn, who killed his girlfriend in Philadeplphia and stuffed her in a trunk, then fled to France? They eventually extradited him back here where he was convicted and sentenced to life without parole, but not before he claimed the CIA killed her. (let’s see if 0 pardons him at the end of his term)

What’s interesting is the EPA has greenlighted Keystone XL pipeline more than once. It’s the State Department that’s holding it up. Even the most extreme environmentalists at EPA want the pipeline because they know hauling the stuff by rail is a far worse alternative.

Shock of shocks, EPA is the reasonable one in this argument. And the project got a “Present” vote from Obastard, until after the election. This has rotted on his desk the whole time he’s been Resident. “No decision!” is a “No!” decision on this. The unions are getting impatient.

we are at a point at which if you have any doubts about global warming, then you are in favor of despoiling the environment. why is this? why do liberals put everyone on the defensive on this?
