You know, I never thought of that till I read this. My great-grandfather’s Civil War diary is fascinating, even the mundane things like firing their muzzle loading rifles off so that they could clean them after a days march. My Father, who died in 1988, wrote down some harrowing tales of his missions on a B-24 against the Japanese. He was in the battle of Midway.
