Matthews is offering criticism because he has the political background to know how dangerous this issue is for the Democrats. If he thought it was small potatoes he’d be right on board. He’s a good canary in the coal mine for when the Dems have gone too far.
He’s providing cover for Her Thighness; nothing more. He’s shrewd enough, perceptive enough to realize just how bad Obama f’d up and he’s carving a path for Hillary to seek cover.
