Well.. when the Allies invaded North Africa they were resisted by Vichy French forces which may have included native auxillaries, but it was Allies vs Axis then.
Much more relevant to the current North African invasion of France was the Algerian revolt which began IIRC in 1954 lasted until Algeria became an independent Islamic state in 1962 under the radical Ahmed ben Bella.
The civil war (Algeria had been annexed to France) was extremely bloody, more so than the Viet Minh war against France in Indochina. Like the Viet Minh, Islamic rebels killed far more indigenous people than French, even as De Gaulle was pulling the rug from under the `pieds noirs’ (ethnic French in Algeria), forcing them to flee penniless to metropolitan France.
Bitter hatred against the French prevail in Algeria to this day, made worse by its growing Islamization and almost complete de-Europeanization since 1962.
The current illegal immigrant incursion into France from North Africa is fraught with revenge & a sense of unfinished business on the part of Muslims. If the French government does not stiffen its spine soon, there will be jihad in France on a scale not seen since the days of the Moors.
Bring it, I’d rather fight a war on their soil than my own.
