First, solitary confinement without natural light destroys all sense of time. Without outside corroboration, two months or two years are indistinguishable.

Third, I doubt any Taliban command could afford to stay put for two years anywhere in Afghanistan.

Agree. Any infidel is a liability to them and would be beheaded within the week. They don’t keep nasty infidels for 5 years. They do feed and shelter fellow islamic jihadists for years.

Previous TV news reports and articles have stated he was held by the Haqqanis in Pakistan, not by Talibanis in Afghanistan.
Historically, the Haqqanis have always required CASH to release hostages. There are rumors that Obama paid cash and in hearings in Congress the question of cash payments has been asked of witnesses. ....Nothing definitive yet.
