The win of Sen. W. Thad Cochran over state Sen. Christopher B. McDaniel in the June 24 GOP Mississippi Senate Primary runoff by less than 5,000 votes is a pyrrhic victory for the Republican establishment.

I did read your post and I didn’t believe it.

What do you mean you didn't believe it? You have open primaries, we don't.

What are you?

I've been way inside and then some. I've had it up to here with RINOs at all levels (Snowe, Collins, etc)

I’m not a state committee member.

Why not? How do you expect to get results if you're not in the driver's seat? You're just a pedestrian on the freeway.

I’m a conservative who is fed up with being targeted by people who are running the political party with which I used to identify.

You should be able to identify with conservative republicans, they need to control the State Committee. What does your state platform look like?

It is pretty vague, but not repugnant.

Wind power is bogus, you need an equivalent conventional power plant for when the wind doesn’t blow (unless the site is always windy) They break down a lot.

“Clean coal” (gasification) makes natural gas and liquid fuels from coal as a feed-stock, instead of just burning it.

You, and buddies, should get on the platform committee.

Fine. And keep the conservatives in the Senate inthe minority and powerless.
Enjoy more Reid. And a court that votes 6-3 against everything you believe in.

The best way to make the GOP more conservative, or conservative at all at this rate, is to let the RINOs lose in November. If anyone still thinks Cochran deserves to win this election, they are blind as bats.

When there is no difference between the 2 parties, that is a great time for a purge

Oh course he doesn’t “deserve to win” .
PRACTICALLY what’s better, DEMOCRATS controlling the Senate with. No conservative imput, or Republicans with lots of conservative input?
The reason the Democrats kick our ass over and over is they understand what it takes to get and keep that power.
But that’s okay, you can posture about how pure you are, while in reality the Democrats just laugh at you and rule.

There would be no conservative input with Mitch McConnell running the Senate either.

Oh bull. There are enough conservative senators he would have to listen to them . Certainly they would have more input then they have at present.
Or do you like having Harry Reid run the Senate.
It’s one or the other.
Grow up.

ut that’s okay, you can posture about how pure you are,

Pure? Because I do not want to vote for people who have the exact OPPOSITE viewpoints as me, call me racist and say they want to punch me in the nose. You think I should vote for THAT?

Hell no. Those people are my enemies as much as the Democrats, they hate me and my beliefs just as much as the Democrats.

I have seen absolutely NOTHING NOTHING!! from Mitch McConnell that would lead me to think he actually opposes Obama in any way shape or form. Where is he? There are tons of issues and scandals and where is he?

He is attacking the TEA party! He is attacking conservatives. He is promising to use his high position in the party to run them out of the GOP!

He is succeeding too.

I have absolutely NO desire to see people like Mitch McConnell in charge of the US Senate. The first things he would do as Senate Majority Leader is to restore the power of the minority party that the Democrats denied the Republicans. He will reach around and give the Democrats hammies.

He is one of them. You know this. Everyone knows this. With a lefty GOP-run Senate there would be no spending cuts, probably no real tax cuts or anything remotely conservative that might actually pass.

Pure?

I will not vote for people who have announced themselves as my enemies. I will not vote for people who want the worst for me. I will not vote to chop off my own head.

I guess that makes me "pure".

If you want a Senate run by Mitch McConnell, Cochran, Cornyn, Alexander, Snowe, McCain and Graham the only thing I can ask is "WHY"??

You’re not too well informed on Mississippi......awash in blue dogs my arse

Whites in Mississippi vote more GOP than any state in the nation 88-90% with Alabama a close second.

No way can you extrapolate that we have a large number of blue dog Dems from that fact......and it is a fact dear.

McDaniel won the Republican vote in the runoff...Cochran with the Barbour machine and Yankee lib cash enticed an additional 35,000 Democrats to vote for Cochran who were nowhere to be found in primary

Without that repugnant tactic McDaniel would have won by 9% minimum

I tell you honey the ignorance about Mississippi on this forum is always entertaining

Aside from race baiting black votes Cochran had familiarity and appeal to folks not up on hot issues like we are here.....which BTW....is a lot of folks sadly but doesn’t mean they are Sam Nunn clones

And BTW....screw all that for the sake of the party crap.....

What party?

Neither represents us.

I wish the GOP fought the left half as hard as they do conservatives

Yeah. And you can have a tent with 3 other purists, and zero power or influence over what happens. Meanwhile Obama Reid and Pelosi will continue to rape the country.

Not if they don’t come up for a vote.
That’s up to the Senate majority leader.
You want a chance to stop them or just let Reid roll over us again?

Here are his ratings by various organizations on positions.

Would you prefer Harry Reid?

Because thats the choice. Period.

I didn’t say MS is “awash” with blue dogs. I noted the 36% black population + however many blue dogs was a significant number that affects how conservative a U.S. Senate candidate can be and still be elected over a moderate Dem. I don’t know MS, but I know GA, which has 2 “moderate-conservative” Repub senators for the same reason MS does imo. Also, in GA there’s a history of Senate candidates paying their dues in lower offices (Gov./U.S. House) and running on their record.

IIRC, McDaniel tried to go from the MS House to the U.S. Senate with little or no record to speak of. Maybe it’s different in MS, but GA voters imo are more reluctant than most to buy a pig in a poke for U.S. Senator. We want to see a candidate’s long record and know what we’re getting. Even then, with demographics similar to MS, we accept that the most conservative candidate/s in the Republican primary almost certainly won’t win a statewide election over a quasi-conservative Dem. GA dodged a bullet this time when the two Repubs most likely to lose in Nov. lost in the primary. We may see similar Dem shenanigans as in MS to affect the GA July Repub runoff for Senate.
