Arabs are good hosts and may offer you food or refreshments during daylight hours. Such offers should be declined.

WTF? They can fine you for eating or for drinking coffee in your own car but they're gonna offer you food to tempt you? WTF is that?

I’m guessing it’s like the mormon gal that had a coffee maker in her house and would make me coffee. “The Elders can go to hell if they think me being a proper host is a sin!”

Of course in Bahrain, the “elders” just might lop somebody’s hand (or head) off. In fact, the young grand-daughter of our mormon friend is over there flying ... XXXXXXX redacted...XXXXXX. But it prompted a search on Bahrain - some pretty fancy and modern buildings.

I guess if they allow us to keep our military base there, we can put up with some of their customs. A few years ago there were riots, burning buildings, etc. with some of the locals calling for the base to be removed. I imagine they don’t want to provoke something like that again either.

From today's bostonherald.com sports section: Morello admonishes Cubs Because Theo Epstein’s last-place Chicago Cubs roll into town tomorrow for a three-game set, it’s a good time to be reminded that other city’s fan bases do still have a great deal of angst that they are struggling to cope with, or rage against, as the case may be. Rocker Tom Morello, the lead guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and lately a touring band member for Bruce Springsteen, used his 50th year to have an entertaining diatribe on the Cubs’ failures printed in Rolling Stone magazine. Fed up without a World Series in his lifetime or his grandmother’s, Morello aired it out with a “seven-point program to end Chicago’s century of misery,” excerpted here: •    1. The Cubs must have the highest payroll in Major League Baseball until they win the World Series. . . . •    2. No petulant superstars. . . . •    3. The booing ends now. . . . •    4. Zero tolerance for racism. . . . •     5. This is not a job, this is a quest. (This was directed to the players: “The hopes, hearts and fate of a city’s soul rest in your hands.”) . . . •    6. The Curse is real. “We talk about it, we joke about it, but until we can wrap our heads around the fact that this Curse, or some form of mass-negative, human-energy vortex which functions in a Curse-like manner, is, in fact, REAL, then it will forever have the better of us.” . . . •      7. Truth and consequences. . . . This is where Morello calls for a boycott. “Unless this plan is adopted by Cub’s ownership, we let our voices be heard and next year, we skip Opening Day,” he writes. “Imagine that. Opening Day at Wrigley Field and an empty stadium. Now you have their attention.” He concludes: “. . . we will no longer be the passive partner in this abusive relationship. We have needs too, ya know? But we also have power and we won’t be silent anymore. Why? Because we love this team. Because we love Chicago. Because we deserve a World Series championship. Because it matters.”
