It’s essentially people running back and forth for no apparent reason.

During Super Bowl Week, there’s always the obligatory article in The New York Times on how violence against women (husbands beating their wives) rises during Super Bowl week.

Much like, every four years, some blogger feels the need to inform me that he thinks soccer is boring.

I’m not a casual soccer fan...

However, the World Cup is essentially the Olympics of soccer and the best teams with the best players in the world compete...

The matches have been compelling and even if you don’t follow soccer, you’d be hard pressed to find a better individual performance of an athlete than Tim Howard had yesterday...

A nice step forward for US soccer...

If America is this excited about its World Cup victory over a dinky little country like Ghana, that’s pathetic. We’re a nation of 320,000,000 people. Yet we barely beat Ghana — 2-1.

The Dominican Republic kicks our a$$ in baseball.

I had difficulty getting into until I began what was actually happening with the footwork. If you can't appreciate what is going on, you can't appreciate the game.

Check out this video and you'll recognize some of the movements you have seen in the game...VIDEO

Soccer is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Except that the paint generally dries before they score a goal in soccer.

Save this article from Ben...

Have him revisit it in 5 years when the NFL is unwatchable because of the rule “tweeks”...

By the way, Ben... The NFL has ties as well...

I agree. It’s too hard to score, and the other teams are too good. That’s un-American.

Soccer...Isn’t that a sport European men play when they aren’t sewing or cooking?

anyone who watched yesterday's game and pretends that was "boring" needs to get a dictionary.

I'm no fan, btw, jsut enjoying the spectacle. What was killing me is how the damn Belgiums could dribble thru our guys like they were the Harlem Globetrotters in red & yellow. Us, if we wanted to advance the ball we needed to pass. We can't dribble past anyone. We need like Gene Kelly as a coach to teach the guys footwork.

Soccer players are near sighted. They have this huge goal yet they manage maybe 1 goal per game. Meanwhile basketball players a ball thru a hoop barely bis enough for the ball.

I read that they attached GPS units to the soccer players for the world cup. I bet when the data is watched they would see just dots randomly moving about the screen.

No kidding. I don't watch soccer either. The difference is I don't feel compelled to tell world which sports I watch & which I do not.

“Hours can go buy with barely a shot on goal – when no one even comes close to scoring.”

Does this guy even watch soccer? There’s a shot on goal about every 4 minutes in the EPL and an actual goal about every 25 minutes (on average).

Another idea for soccer is less players on the field.

Pulling one (from each team) every five minutes or so would be a better way to settle ties compared to the vomit-inducing shoot-out crap.

I’m conservative and I like soccer. My nephew played 4 yrs for his Christian Homeschool team...so I know a lot of folks way more conservative than me who like soccer

I like the World Cup because I like to see USA beat some foreigners....the liberal globalists sure have problems when nations compete...instead of being One World kumbaya

Here's another great video for understanding what is actually going on re: control and movement of the ball...SOCCER IN SLOW MOTION.

WARNING: TURN YOUR SOUND DOWN OR OFF...Bad music (unless you like rap).
