No it's not. It's "Can't we all just get along", padded to 1,000 words. The son is, without question, simply wrong in his beliefs. We have no way to know about the father (except that the "progressive" son disagrees with him about almost everything, which is a good sign). He might or might not hold incorrect views or just generally be a dick. But, if he's a conservative/libertarian, he's the only one of the two with even the opportunity to be right, but the author sounds as if the situation is symmetrical. It is not.
nice post, thanks for actually reading that entire clap trap article....here’s my favorite quote
“No matter how bad someone may appear, they are truly no worse than us. Our beliefs and behavior don’t make us fundamentally better than others, no matter how satisfying it is to believe otherwise.”
sorry hippie, some of my beliefs and behaviors are superior to the neighborhood child rapist ...
That was my take also (although I didn't get past the second paragraph. I could see where he was going).
He is correct that one should not be consumed by politics, but there is right and wrong. Satan deceived Eve by telling her that 'ye shall not die', when she clearing did something wrong - disobeying, and not believing God.
The best rules to live by, is what The Lord Jesus gave us on the Sermon on the Mount.
Matthew 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
