What Wolf doesn't understand is a basic truth about real-world shooting situations: Even if you're a world-class shooter on the range, in a real life-and-death shoot you'll be lucky to hit that moving person at even five to ten yards. You couldn't reliably make a "wounding only" shot at three yards.
But more to the point: If you aren't faced with a deadly threat you have no business using a deadly weapon, especially in an intentionally non-deadly manner. "I'm sorry your honor, I didn't intend to kill him when I fired my pistol at him". It doesn't fly.
Said another way... If you have -time- to think about -where- to shoot somebody in order not to kill them, you shouldn't be shooting at all.
